C’est non… I still like the one from Nov 2nd. Much more clean and simple- especially for wire manipulation.

For some reason I’m getting flashbacks of my Finnish grandmere on this one. Not that the piece is lacking presence or striking interest, it obviously does, and the blue ink, (was this with ball point, etc.? on regular quality paper?), brings a specific character quality to it. Again, the simplicity of the sketches is really what captivates, and ironically what makes one want to delve deeper- that’s the beauty and gift of the artist.

What’s behind this sketch, anything particular, or was it generated purely for additional inspiration?

    Hey Tsaari,

Your observations are correct: ballpoint pen on standard copier/printer paper.

I agree with you on Nov. 2nd vs. this one. This one was inspired by the Nov. 2nd one. Hence I made specific choices towards “wire” medium and consequently lost the originality a little bit (it was more “controlled” process, if you will).

On a lighter note, your grand-mère reference made me laugh.

    Take care.

I’m still playing catch-up with your updated sketches, and have to get some last minute food preparations- more wine too! But I’m really enjoying your work, it’s light, inspiring- fresh and has various potentials beyond the paper and pen. Are you currently teaching art as well? Interesting diversion and good use of your obvious creative spirit/drive- keep going!

Oh.. my GrandMa… Lilja- she is quite missed on this human sphere. And the holidays always make me miss her more, especially for her recipes- I can’t read her handwriting and have to improvise!

There is an artist who I cannot recall directly whose sketches really resonate with some of yours… I will have to dig back in the gray matter more but it escapes me. Something in your work is really striking me, but I’m not quite sure what that is at the moment… will keep me searching and thinking.

    Best Wishes- *t

    Hi Tsaari,

Thanks for your kind words. And, no, I am not teaching art (as flattering as it is to be on the receiving end of your question). Take care.
